Every single notebook or desktop or web server is run by an Operating System - the low-level program which communicates with the hardware equipment, including peripheral devices such as a mouse or a printer, as well as any apps that are installed on the system. Any program input through a command line or a Graphical User Interface (GUI) is processed by sending an Application Program Interface (API) request to the Operating System. On a web server, any application runs within the parameters specified by the OS as well - priority, physical memory, processing time, etc. This goes for both standard site scripts and server-side software like a media server. When a virtual server is created on a physical one, there can be two independent Operating Systems, called guest OS and host OS, so that you will be able to set up a different software environment on a single machine.
Multiple OS in VPS Servers
We provide three different Linux releases for the Operating System of our VPS servers - Debian, CentOS and Ubuntu. These are some of the safest and the most reliable OSs out there and we provide all three rather than only one since we realize that you might want to install some software with specific requirements with regards to the Operating System it'll run on. The latter is due to the fact that each of the three Operating Systems has a vast support community behind it and there're various software applications you could install on the server. Your OS selection will also determine what hosting Control Panel can be installed on the VPS in case you want to use one and for this reason we offer multiple Control Panels too. In the event you decide that you need to have a different OS, our technical support can quickly wipe the current one and set up the one that you'd like. In addition, we offer an optional service to maintain the OS on your VPS updated weekly.
Multiple OS in Dedicated Servers
In case you decide to get one of our dedicated servers, you shall find three Operating Systems on the registration page since we want to give you a broader choice regarding the system environment on your machine as different apps can have certain requirements. CentOS, Ubuntu and Debian feature different modules developed by their huge support communities, so you can select any of these OSs and take advantage of a reliable and risk-free Internet hosting service. Based on your choice, you'll also have different Control Panels to choose from. Of course, we can always change the Operating System in case the one you've selected initially doesn't meet the requirements of the software which you'd like to run. We can also update your OS regularly in order to keep it as risk-free as possible through our Managed Services upgrade package.
